UFIREG Stakeholder Panel

With the launch of the project, partners have established an international stakeholder panel. Interested actors in politics, sciences, environment and health from local, regional, national and European Institutions were invited to join the UFIREG network. Stakeholders who signed a “Letter of Intent” were regularly informed by the partners on the project’s progress, developments and intermediate results. Stakeholders meetings in Prague (January 2012), Dresden (February 2013) and again in Prague (January 2014) provided a framework for an exchange of expertise and experience.

The tasks of a stakeholder involve:

  • the widespread of information
  • the transfer of UFIREG results into their network and policies and
  • regular feedback on the implementation of activities from an external point of view.

The current members of our Stakeholder Panel are:

UFIREG Workgroups

Being dependent on constant scientific input and mutual exchange of information, the UFIREG partners established two transnational workgroups, one focusing on exposure assessment, one focusing on epidemiological analyses. Both workgroups consist of experts of the project partners. Additionally, the workgroups consist of external experts who contribute to the project’s work with their expertise in the fields of medicine, life sciences, public health, meteorology and air pollution measurement. Both workgroups meet regularly twice a year, discuss actual issues in the daily work of the project partners and decide on further steps regarding the investigation of research question best suitable until the projects’ end.

Epidemiological work group

The epidemiological work group is concerned with the collection and analysis of the epidemiological data within the project. They members discuss, amongst others, the best suitable statistical methods and matters of current importance, as for example the availability and data format of mortality and morbidity statistics at all five study areas.

The contributing external experts in this work group are:

Prof. Dr. Giuseppe La Torre Sapienza University of Rome, Clinical Medicine and Public Health Unit
Prof. Dr. Claudia Hornberg University of Bielefeld, Faculty of Health Sciences, Working Group Environment and Health
Dr. Peggy Looks City of Dresden, Department Public Health, WHO Healthy Cities Network
Dr. Ulrich Franck Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, Climate Change and Health
Massimo Stafoggia Department of Epidemiology Lazio Regional Health Service
Dr. Eva Rychliková, M.D. Health Institute Ústí nad Labem, Department Projects and International Cooperation
Dr. Ivan Eržen University of Maribor, Medical Faculty, Institute of Public Health
Olena Koloskova Bukovinian State Medical University

Exposure work group

The work group for UFP measurements (exposure work group) deals with questions regarding the technical and statistical measurement processes, especially the preparation and proper execution of the UFP measurements at all five study areas and further the analysis of air pollutants. In addition to representatives from all project partners the exposure work group is supported by the expertise of:
